Pop singer JoJo, who first burst onto the music scene in 2004 with radio hits “Leave (Get Out)” and “Too Little too Late”, earned a place in music history as the youngest solo artist at age 14 to have a number-one hit in the USA. Turns out, the talented singer was born and bred in New England, spending the most significant part of her childhood in the Foxborough area. Born in Brattleboro, Vermont, she also spent time in Keene, New Hampshire, but Massachusetts is the state closest to her heart… literally. In the last issue of Stuff magazine, the singer revealed she recently got a tattoo on her ribcage of an outline of the Bay State.

Much like Massachusetts, JoJo, who was born Joanna Noëlle Blagden Levesque, has also ventured info the film industry, starring in Aquamarine and RV, with Robin Williams, in 2006. Her earliest television appearance came at age 7, when she sang a Cher song on “Kids Say the Darnedest Things: On the Road in Boston: with host Bill Cosby.

Levesque, who spent some time in South Boston as a child, won a Boston Music Award in 2007 for National Female Vocalist of the Year, performing at the show that year. She returned to Beantown the following year to perform the National Anthem at Fenway Park and won a subsequent BMA for Outstanding Pop/R&B Act Of The Year. 

Her third studio album, Jumping Trains, is set to be released in early 2012, after already releasing a single this fall entitled “Disaster” that debuted on the Billboard charts. She opened for Joe Jonas & Jay Sean co-headlining 19 city fall tour which kicked off this fall at the Boston House of Blues.
