East Coast Casting and Upcoming Films

East Coast Casting and Upcoming Films

Posted on 18 Apr 2012 at 5:57pm

Spring is back and Hollywood East is rolling. We know there can be a lot of dilly dallying as the temps rise but let’s shine on set. Hollywood film crews are packing up for some East Coast air. Our calendar wants to be booked. Let’s stay connected with the hottest castings and films coming to town.

Adam Sandler is back for more! Incentives? We think so. Grown Ups 2 will be shooting in Marblehead in the next few months. And guess what? They’re looking for you and a recent photo, no headshots, on Saturday May 12th and Sunday the 13th @ The Teacher’s Union Hall in South Boston. Casting will be snapping a picture of you too. Looking for all ages, Union/Non Union stay connected with Sande Alessi Casting on Facebook. No experience needed.

We haven’t heard too much about this upcoming flick Brilliant, a diamond-heist thriller, staring the sexy Gerald Butler, but Variety has binged a Boston set this May. We think that’s glorious! And news leaked this week that Harrison Ford, Gary Oldman, and Liam Hemsworth are all set to star to boot.

Maybe you want the set to be in your own backyard? Powderhouse Productions and HGTV are casting for homeowners looking for help with their outdoor renovations. Could this be Cape Cod stud Chris Lambton’s new show “Going Yard”?? Now that would be a good dig! This film crew will need 10 days of availability to shoot and complete the renovations. Interested? Email [email protected] ASAP! Let us know if you get picked!

What’s up with “Labor Day”? It’s coming to Massachusetts a little early this year. It’s filming in June! The Josh Brolin-Kate Winslet fling is already matching up with local actors, creating some buzz. “Up in the Air” director, Jason Reitman will be guiding Brolin and Winslet as they stab the scene with a faint romance. Not only backround but small roles are being cast.

It seems most of these flicks flashing about in Massachusetts will need a good amount of backround actors. You need to link up with Boston Casting, C.P Casting and South Shore Casting to get in on the action! For the most part, extra work is a good experience. You create the reality of the location, making the scene look just right for the main dish. But remember when you decide to sign up for a day on set there will be early morning starts, wardrobe changes, hanging in holding, standing for hours and possibly working 14-16 hours a day. Over time, these experiences will help you grow and like we all hope, we will be standing in the right place at the right time. Break a leg!

Boston to get

Boston to get “Smash”-ed

Posted on 18 Apr 2012 at 3:15pm

Earlier this week, industry insider, Variety, published a story reporting on the season finale of NBC’s hit show, “Smash,” traveling to Boston for filming. The episode is already set to air on April 30th, and will reportedly feature the faux Broadway show, “Bombshell,” being performed at a local theater in Beantown. Emerson College, the school which has produced countless theater, television, and movie talents over the years, has already begun working to get the show to use one of it’s various theaters—the Cutler, Paramount, or Colonial—to produce the final show, perhaps even allowing for some local alums and students to get involved on the action either in front of the camera as extras, or behind the scenes as crew.

No word on whether or not recent guest star, Uma Thurman, who herself was born in the Bean, will also be featured on that episode and returning to her hometown. Thurman started a recent guest spot on the show as Rebecca Duvall, the know-it-all Hollywood starlet whose personal problems and lackluster singing chops are not enough to overshadow the star power her turn as Marilyn is sure to bring to the production.

Production should commence on the episode relatively soon, though so far there have been no official reports of exactly where or when shooting would take place, nor have there been any sightings on the crew around town.

The April 30 episode of the NBC musical drama is titled “Tech” and will air at 10  p.m. “Smash” costars Debra Messing, Anjelica Huston, Megan Hilty, and Katharine McPhee.
