The paranormal thriller, Crooked Lane, recently wrapped filming in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. Starring Ann Cusack of A League of Their Own fame, and Brett Cullen of TV shows like “Damages”, “Private Practice”, and “Lost”, the film was written and is directed by Chase Bailey, a Portsmouth resident whose producing credits include The Libertine with Johnny Depp. This is his first screenplay and first time as a director. Based on a true story passed down for over 200 years, the movie is also set in New Hampshire, in addition to using filming locations in Portsmouth and Barrington.
In addition to stars of the big and small screen, the movie will also feature local talent in the form of extras and small roles in the film. Many of these roles include children from in an around the Portsmouth area. Local spots used in the movie as settings or backdrops include Market Street, Commercial Alley, Market Square, Kennedy Studio, and Cava restaurant, all in Portsmouth. Extras and crowd control managers from around the area, including Concord and Stratham, both of previous film experience and not. Many extras joined the film simply for the experience of seeing Hollywood at work in their own backyard. The film is currently set to be released by Left Bank Films sometime in 2010.
