The First Thanksgiving, Plymouth

Every fourth Thursday in November, Thanksgiving takes the stage. Its debut even happened right here in New England. It’s a day that gobbles us up with family, friends and food. Like the Indians and Pilgrims who had to check their feathers and bonnets at the door to feast together, we do to. We are all cast together. It’s complicated but what isn’t?

This Thanksgiving we thought we’d make it less complicated and stuff you with being thankful here in Hollywood East. We love the taste of turkey and with it spiced with the Massachusetts Film and Tax Credit it makes us all thirsty as it is prepared by Lisa Stout.

It’s the credit that roasts up film crews year after year like RIPD, Donny’s Boy, What’s Your Number and The Town. These are the movies that pour the gravy. Why is it, we eat turkey all year long but it tastes the best on Thanksgiving? You know why. It’s trimmed with delicious casting agencies, Boston Casting, CP Casting, South Shore Casting and LDI who serve it up hot!

Today South Shore Casting Studios are opening their doors and offering a turkey dinner to anyone in the area that doesn’t have a place to give thanks. “I have been extremely blessed in 2011 and want to share my joy,” Casting director Jodi Purdy Quinlan writes on FB. Reservations are required. Head shots not necessary.

As we double our calorie intake with homeboys Mark Wahlberg, Ben Affleck and Matt Damon. Let’s add a few more inches with New England Talent and Crew. This crew is mashed with salty talent and buttery crafts. They make Hingham Bay buns flip at Wahlburgers. They are the variety dishes that make up this great film feast.

Right now Irish Whisper is adding a pinch and whipping up an array of actors like Erica McDermott and Chuck Slavin cast. “I’m thankful for my boys, my family & friends,” Slavin tells us. “The Legislature’s support of the Mass Film Tax Credit and the New England film Community”.

Stout is also rumored to be frying up the credit in LA. Tempting a Hollywood series to come to Boston next year? So as the butter melts, castings await and the unavoidable conversation with your Aunt Mary happens. We are thankful for subscribers like you.

Our pioneers settled in Plymouth and our film community almost did too. This year we thank Plymouth Rock for starting a studio effect as we migrate and welcome other studios like Quixote to the table. If the Indians and Pilgrims can figure out a place to gather and eat, we can too.

So as we gobble till we wobble. Cheers to New England and  thank you for connecting with Hollywood East Connection. We wish you a Happy Thanksgiving.
