It seems like everyday there’s been buzz about Ben Affleck stirring up Boston as he shoots his upcoming film The Town. His attached-at-the-hip best friend and fellow Cambridge, MA native Matt Damon, however, seems to have been flying under the radar lately. Fans have finally gotten a clue as to what he’s been working on as trailers for his new movie have just been released.
Invictus, which was directed by Clint Eastwood with a screenplay by Anthony Peckham, portrays the story of Nelson Mandela after he was elected president in South Africa and his attempt to unify an economically and racially segregated country through a mutual love of sports. Mandela is played by Morgan Freeman while Damon plays the role of Francois Pienaar, the captain of South Africa’s rugby team who leads the group to the 1995 World Cup Championship.
The film is scheduled to be released on December 11th and also stars Langley Kirkwood, Penny Downie, Julian Lewis Jones, Grant Roberts, Robert Hobbs and Tony Kgoroge. Watch the trailer here:
