Have you been flirting with the idea of jetting off to LA to make it as an actor? With the slow summer and Plymouth Rock Studios seemingly a bust, it’s tempting to take the leap from New England to LA. Although traffic in LA can be a nightmare and the air quality is questionable, the thought of wearing flip flops in the winter and seeing beautiful people on every street corner can be tantalizing. But what if you could hear about the experience of one New England actor who has gotten work in LA? If your not ready to make the big move, ‘Actors 2 LA’ may be the workshop you need.
Actors2LA is workshop about breaking into the business — the process of becoming a working actor in LA. Hosted by Everett, MA born actor, Chris Ciulla, who has been “working his butt off” in LA for almost ten years and wants to share the mistakes he made before you hit the LA scene.
Ciulla began acting right after graduating with a Political Science degree from Boston College, and never looked back. He learned the Boston scene inside and out ventured to NYC before landing in LA. “I miss Boston,” Ciulla tells us. “I miss that realness of wearing your heart on your sleeve and reading people’s faces as you pass them by.”
15 years later, bumps and bruises to boot, Ciulla is a respected SAG/AFTRA actor, voice actor, boxing commentator, live host and radio personality. Ciulla now knows the routes an actor needs to take to avoid the blunders of the competitive world of acting. “I want to get actors at the earliest in their career,” Ciulla tells us. “I want actors to save money and time.”
The Actors2LA workshop isn’t like the other workshops here in the Bay State hosted by casting directors or firms. Ciulla is in the biz and knows where to find work because he himself is “submitting to projects” everyday. Ciulla is ready to teach you the loop holes of hustling and bustling in Hollywood, CA.
Not only will Ciulla be giving you the inside tips from “A to Z,” but joining him will be LA Casting Director Chadwick Struck, who will also give you one on one advice for your future endeavors in LA. It doesn’t matter if you’re a first time player or a veteran. “I want to maximize their careers,” Ciulla tells us. “I want them to work to get the work.”
The Actors2LA workshop hits Beantown on September 25 & 26th. Ciulla wants a maximum of 20 actors for the weekend and will schedule another workshop if necessary. Furthermore, Ciulla and his production partners are pitching a non-fiction, film history show and is in talks with the “top brass of large production entities”. They’re currently shooting to get season one picked up for production slated for Spring 2011. Ciulla is the real deal — one conversation with him leaves you feeling his adrenaline for acting.
So if you want details about what it’s like to make in LA as an actor, check out his website at Actors2LA dot com for the low down including numerous testimonials on his upcoming workshop. Ciulla is also available for private coaching. Check out his resume and stats and meet him this September. Don’t miss out on hearing how this working New Englander navigates the LA scene, and how you can learn from him before making your decision to move.
