One in 150 children have autism. It was this staggering statistic that drove us to chose to support the May Institute with your help. The May Institute marked its 55th anniversary this past April by launching an autism-awareness campaign with the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA). Over 1,000 pieces of information will be shared on subway posters and busses reaching the 1.3 million riders that use the MBTA every day.
Since 1955, the May Institute has transformed from a single school in Massachusetts to a national non-profit organization benefiting thousands of children and adults with autism and special needs. It has expanded to five education schools and has opened new autism centers for military and civilian families in Georgia and North Carolina.
Currently, the Faces and Voices of Autism exhibition is on display at the John Joseph Moakley U.S. Courthouse in Boston. The collaboration with Andrew Child Photography invites people the experience life from the perspective of children with autism. The May Institute hopes viewers will gain a deeper and more meaningful understanding of ASD though more than just facts and statistics. The exhibit will run until June 30th.
Want to do more for the fight against autism? Hollywood East Connection has partnered with the May Institute and for every purchase you make at the HEC Amazon store, 2% will go to helping children and adults with Autism Spectrum Disorders and other developmental disabilities.

Thanks for sharing such valuable information. I’d also like to let everyone know that if you visit my blog you can receive a copy of the audio interview I did with Dr. Michael Goldberg, renown autism specialist. He has helped my son tremendously and I’d like to share his methods with as many people as possible. Thanks. Dorothea
