When it comes to movie stars, there are not many bigger than Tom Cruise. How big exactly? It seems Boston will be able to make its own assessment this fall when the Top Gun guy makes his way to the Hub for his next film. Wichita, which will costar Cameron Diaz, is described as an action comedy, and is set to start filming this September.
That means the big name stars would be hanging around town for up to three months for shooting the project, which would be the biggest budget movie ever to come to Boston. James Mangold, of Girl, Interrupted and Walk the Line, is set to direct.
As an action film, producers of the picture are currently making arrangements to procure the proper permits required for filming stunts and other action sequences, as many of them would require public roads and other areas being closed off to traffic. As per standard Hollywood pre-production practices, a location scout has been scouring the area in order to determine the best locations around town for shooting the film.
While its not certain exactly what the film will be about, Variety reported that the story centers on a single woman who meets a man on a blind date who then turns out to be a secret agent.
