Drew Barrymore rolled into Boston greeting an energized crowd at the Artists for Humanity EpiCenter as not only an A list Actress but a first time director of Whip It. Barrymore, who stopped for a photo with Stuff Boston, not only wowed the crowd by her glowing complexion but with her spinster head to toe plaid. Barrymore has always inspired us with her youthful personality and making her dreams come true. We all remember the young six year old Barrymore as Gertie in E.T and we can now witness her first directorial debut of Whip It.

Barrymore told the packed house of adoring fans that she has done a lot of things but hadn’t yet directed a film. Whip It is a film about a small town Texan with an indie-rock loving flair played by Ellen Page known best for her role in Juno. The small town girl finds a way of dealing with her unhappiness and discovers a roller derby league in nearby Austin. The tag line for this movie is “Be Your Own Hero”. With stars like Jimmy Fallon, Julliet Lewis, and Barrymore starring in the film, we can expect a hit.

With her hipster audience and girl flick flavor following, there’s no chance we would miss Barrymore’s first directing debut. Whip it will be in theaters Friday, October 2. Check out this video of Whip It and Barrymore behind the scene.
