Keep a lookout Massachusetts natives: filming for the new Adam Sandler movie has been in production for the past few weeks in Southborough as well as other small cities in Massachusetts. The crew has been spotted filming in the Pilgrim Congressional Church and the Old Burial Ground as well as visiting small businesses and restaurants around Southborough. The film, reportedly entitled Grown Ups, is set in Connecticut and tells a story about five high school friends reuniting after 30 years for a Fourth of July weekend. It is being produced by Sandler’s own production company, Happy Madison Productions, and directed by Dennis Dugan.

In addition to Sandler, the movie includes Happy Madison Productions regular Rob Schneider as well as Salma Hayek, Kevin James, Maya Rudolph, David Spade, Chris Rock and Maria Bello. Though he has no personal connections to Massachusetts, Brooklyn-born Sandler grew up in Manchester, New Hampshire after he and his parents moved there when he was five. Reportedly due to his New England upbringing, Sandler has featured some of his childhood sites in many of his movies such as Click, where his character goes to Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire, where he went to summer camp.
