Acclaimed director Wes Anderson is currently gearing up to film his next great flick, Moonrise Kingdom, in Rhode Island later this year.

The film has an all-star cast, including Bruce Willis, Edward Norton, Owen Wilson, Tilda Swinton, and the elusive Bill Murray. The story follows the tale of two lovers who disappear from their small New England town. Unsure if they have run away or there is foul play, a search party results and organizes themselves to go in search for the missing couple. Anderson has helmed a number of pictures across various genres, including Rushmore, The Darjeeling Limited, and the animated feature, The Fantastic Mr. Fox.

Among the scouted locations include Middletown, Aquidneck Island, with the old, vacant John F. Kennedy Elementary School to serve as the local production office.

Middletown Patch reported that Evan Smith, President of the Newport & Bristol County Visitors Bureau said of the news: “This film will have a positive economic impact not only to Aquidneck island,” he said, “but throughout the state, touching all segments of the hospitality industry, from lodging, dining, transportation, shopping to attractions and beyond!”

C.P. Casting of Boston recently sent out a call for boys who are 7, 8, or 9 years old to audition for speaking roles in the feature film, which will begin shooting this Spring.

Moonrise Kingdom will be released sometime in 2012.
