The party featured performances by the Boston Babydolls burlesque troupe, a Cher impersonator, music, dancing, and private fashion shows featuring shoes by Zack Lo. Party guests were invited to shop the vendors displaying an array of designer shoes, clothes, jewelry, and lingerie, while enjoying themed cocktails, and were also treated to burlesque lessons and goodie bags. These swag bags included coupons, product samples, movie posters, Cher and Christina Aguilera masks, free movie passes to an advanced screening at the Boston Common Theater on Monday night.
The movie follows the story of Ali, played by Christina Aguilera, a small-town girl who comes to LA to make it big, and stumbles into the old-style Burlesque Lounge, where she gets hired as a waitress. HEC checked it out, and the audience at the packed screening seemed to enjoy the music and dance-filled flick, often cracking up at the sardonic humor of Cher’s character, Tess.
One of the stars of the film, Eric Dane, who plays Marcus, may not be a New England star but is a co-star of Ellen Pompeo, from Everett, MA, and Patrick Dempsey, from Maine, on ABC’s hit show, “Grey’s Anatomy”. Another star of the film, relative newcomer, actor David Walton, who plays Mark the DJ, was born in Boston. The movie will be officially released on Wednesday, November 24.
