The Invention of Lying, shot in Lowell, MA last Spring along with shoots in Quincy, MA, North Andover, MA, and Boston may premiere in Lowell upon it’s release on September 25th. The recent release of the film’s trailer has the Lowell community hoping for a premiere or at least screening party.
According to the Lowell Sun, Deb Belanger, executive director of the Greater Merrimack Valley Convention and Visitors Bureau stated “Our goal is to do some sort of premiere or advance screening at the Lowell Memorial Auditorium, but if that does not work out our Plan B is to use the Cinema and do a big event out there.”
Starring Jennifer Garner and British comedian Ricky Gervais, the film was written and directed by Gervais and Matthew Robinson. The the comedy is set in a world where no one has ever lied, and stars Gervais as a performer who tells the world’s first lie. The film also stars Rob Lowe, Tina Fey, Jason Bateman, Jeffrey Tambor, Jonah Hill and Christopher Guest.
