A film made in Connecticut this spring is currently in post production, in hopes of being released sometime next year. Directed by Lynne Ramsay and based on a novel by Lionel Shriver, We Need to Talk About Kevin stars John C. Reilly and Tilda Swinton, of The Chronicles of Narnia fame.

The psychological thriller follows the story of the mother (Swinton) of a boy who goes on a murderous rampage shortly before his 16th birthday. In trying to deal with her feelings of grief and guilt, the mother writes to her ex-husband in an attempt to sort through the responsibility of being the person who raised a crazed killer.

The film is being produced by BBC Films, and was shot primarily in Stamford, Connecticut this past April. The film used local restaurants and businesses for scenes, occasionally reconfiguring store fronts to suit specific location requirements in the story. The film also stars teenage star and relative newcomer Ezra Miller as the high school aged Kevin. Steven Soderbergh, director of Erin Brockovich and Ocean’s Eleven, is also on tap as one of the executive producers of the film.
