It’s hard to think about doing much during the dog days of summer and we certainly aren’t complaining about it. There really is nothing better than enjoying a book on the beach or a wine cooler poolside, but in this biz, actors are constantly working on their craft. We know there can be a lot dilly dallying between gigs, so we thought we would share some hot classes and sticky workshops going on around town.
How about one last summah fling with that audition class you know you’ve been meaning to take? It just so happens that we know the perfect one. Get in front of the acclaimed casting director, Angela Peri, founder of one of the hottest casting companies in Beantown, Boston Casting. Peri will be hosting a four hour workshop called Nailing that Audition for Adults on July 24th. With Peri’s fine eye for talent, you know you’re in good hands.
Or do you have a great voice but never thought about exploring voice-over work? Well here’s your chance to work with Sunny Dufolt, who has been doing voice over work for over 30 years. We think he might know a few things about having a lucrative career as a voice-over. Check out Dufolt’s five week Voice Over course starting August 4th. Boston Casting has quite an impressive list of credentials and they’ve not only been getting actors work for over twenty years, but they offer plenty of courses for actors of all levels at their Media Performance Institute. Check it out and start meeting the faces you should be networking with.
As much as we love Boston Casting, we also have a thing for C.P. Casting as well. With both casting companies filling our mailboxes with casting notices all year long, we really can’t choose between the two. C.P is offering this one day seminar on Physical Comedy, hosted by Patrick Donnelly, on July 25th. This class explores proven physical exercises and hysterically stupid games to unleash your inner physical comedian. Comedy is challenging so why not hookup with other Boston players and learn how others are doing it. C.P. Casting is also offering a six week class for Advanced Actors with Carolyn Pickman. This course teaches techniques to help the actor book the job. Actual audition material from television commercials, corporate videos, and film scripts will be used. C.P Casting is always offering a slew of classes and workshops such as this one: a 2 day seminar for Feature Film Actors Lab. Oh, and just an FYI that C.P Casting is the one who has been flooding our mailboxes with What’s Your Number? casting notices over the past few months.
It doesn’t matter which company you choose or what class you in enroll in as long as you continue to work on your craft here in Hollywood East. So here’s your chance to be that much closer to getting that next gig or finally get a second call back this fall. Why not rub shoulders with the two casting agencies who know what’s happening in Hollywood East?
