Zombie movie to shoot in Norwich, CT

A new independent movie is set to film in Norwich, Connecticut, and is looking for a few good zombies to help fill out the cast.

On March 25th, the Norwich Bulletin reported that Andrew Gernhard, of Synthetic Cinema International of Rocky Hill wants to use the Franklin Square area to film its new independent zombie movie. Gernhard presented his project idea to the Norwich Community Development Corp.’s board of directors.

The city is excited for the industry that a film production brings, in addition to the recognition. Gernhard is actually a 1995 graduate of Norwich Free Academy. Though the entire picture will be shot in Norwich, the story will actually be set in Nevada.

Synthetic Cinema, an independent film company, is most well-known for for its low-budget horror features, including titles like Assault of the Sasquatch, Blood Descendants, Predator Island, and Werewolf.

The film will require around 100 extras to play various undead roles. The film company has already held open auditions at Manchester Community College in Connecticut for those members of the community looking to try their hand at being a zombie, or just simply be featured as background talent.
