Ads are currently running on TV for the soon-to-be-released Rio, an animated feature from the makers of Ice Age, the Connecticut-based Blue Sky Studios. Thanks to the Constitution State’s generous 30% tax credit, the animation studio, which is based in Greenwich and owned by 20th Century Fox, follows the story of a pet blue mccaw in Minnesota who meets the fellow feathered love of his life, and decides to make a break for it down to Rio de Janeiro.

A host of well-known faces have lent their voices to the picture, including last year’s Hasty Pudding Award recipient, Ann Hathaway, and star of the made-in-Mass. flick, The Social Network, Jesse Eisenburg.

According to local news channel 8 WTNH, “Blue Sky arrived in Greenwich in 2009 and since then has added over 100 people to its payroll. They calculate that their employees logged over a million hours of work in order to produce Rio.”

The studio recently held an advance screening of Rio for patients from the Children’s Hospital and kids from the Boys and Girls Clubs. The film was shown in the theater at the Connecticut Science Center in Hartford.

Rio will be released in theaters on April 15, and also features the voice talents of Leslie Mann, Wanda Sykes, Jane Lynch, Jamie Foxx, Tracy Morgan, George Lopez, and Will i Am.
