Spring has sprung so let’s have a 3 day weekend fling with Tom Kane’s Film Production Shop, April 13, 14, 15^th. All aspiring producers, screenwriters, actors, and anyone who wants to flirt with the idea of having a career in film and video production should swing in because this one-man band producer, production manager and assistant director, Tom Kane is New England bound.

Kane, who lives in Connecticut part-time, has had quite a career as a film producer with film credits including Prizzi’s Honor with Jack Nicholson and Raging Bull which Kane tells Hollywood East Connection, “is the best movie in the last 50 years”.

The 3 day workshop focuses on how to successfully plan, organize and manage a film. Students will learn first-hand how to create a shooting schedule, production board and day-out-of days.  You will also be scouting locations to learn the professional approach to detail for each location. “The whole point of this workshop is to teach what I know because I have been there, I can talk about the experience,” Kane tells us.

Beginners are welcome, 10% student discount and right now 25% off to  Boston AFTRA/SAG members. This years shop is 20 minutes outside of Boston in Braintree, MA. Kane also tells us his motivator for his success was, “To prove my family wrong. They were convinced I’d fail. Also my love of film and the films I was seeing in the 60’s,” Kane adds.
