Beloved Beantown homeboy Matt Damon has been a busy boy lately. With a recent Oscar nod for his supporting work in Invictus, the handsome family man already has a new movie out and a number of projects in the works for the near future. Just released earlier this month, the war-themed movie Green Zone teams Damon up with his Bourne Supremacy director, Paul Greengrass. The film follows Damon’s character, an Army officer, in search of WMDs in post 2003 US invasion in Iraq. The film is rated R and is currently in theaters.
Currently in talks, Damon is also expected to play the tragic political icon, Robert Kennedy in a new biopic. The Oscar winner’s Hollywood clout is officially confirmed; the Good Will Hunting Star has script approval before the film will be greenlit. Steven Knight, of Eastern Promises fame, is writing the screenplay, which is being based on the biography His Life by Evan Thomas. Gary Ross will direct.
The prolific star has at least three other films slated for release this year, and is currently filming True Grit with Jeff Bridges and Josh Brolin. His voice will be featured in the penguin adventure, Happy Feet 2 in 3D in 2011.
