Another Night in Suck City Begins Shooting

Posted on 12 Mar 2011 at 1:00am

Attention Beantown: Rumors are speculating lights, camera and action this Summer for New England talent and crew. It’s certainly not confirmed yet but let’s leak it anyway.

Acclaimed director Paul Weitz’s cameras are rolling in NYC for the untitled adaptation of New England native Nick Flynn’s 2004 personal memoir Another Bullshit Night in Suck City. Do you know where “Suck City” is? BOSTON pretty much. Yup, it’s looking like Focus Feature will be rolling in Boston this summer too.  At least we hope so.

In the press release sent out by Focus Feature, director Paul Weitz said, “I’ve been working on this script for seven years, gone through 30 drafts, and I feel extremely lucky to be making this draft, with this cast, at this studio.” Is that why Little Fockers was a such a miss this past summer? Either way, we think your fabulous. Welcome to Boston?

In the same release James Schamus said, “Nick’s memoir was emotional, ruefully funny, and powerfully moving. Paul’s movie looks to honor Nick’s experiences – and his father’s. We are privileged to be working with these filmmakers and talent to tell this story.”

Another tell all story about someone’s life growing up in Boston?  Why not? The Academy seems to dig it.

The untitled film is based in Boston and the South Shore aka Scituate Flynn’s hometown digs.  Nothing has been confirmed but speculation is lingering that filming will be shooting in NYC and BOSTON!

This dynamite cast of A-listahs including, Robert De Niro playing Flynn’s homeless father, whom Flynn reunites with while working at the Pine Street Inn Boston as a social worker, and Paul Dano playing Nick Flynn, Julianne Moore, and the beautiful Olivia Thirlby (Juno) are just a few celebs that might be rolling the streets of Boston this year.  It could be another hot summer of celebs in Hollywood East!

Oh, and maybe some more Oscar nods for Boston come twenty twelve? Yes, please!

Wichita Knight and Day on Location

Posted on 22 Oct 2009 at 4:00am

Tom Cruise‘s Untitled Wichita Project has recently been renamed Knight and Day. The action comedy screenplay, co-written by James Mangold and Scott Frank (Marley & Me, Minority Report), follows a fugitive couple–Cruise and Cameron Diaz–on a glamorous, yet deadly adventure around the globe. Cruise and Diaz will share the screen with Wilton, CT native Paul Dano in the role of an eccentric genius behind a revolutionary technology.

Directed by Mangold (Walk the Line; Girl, Interrupted), the film production was spotted on the streets of Charlestown and South Boston just last weekend. Previous filming locations include the Worcester airport, Bridgewater and Somerville. While there has been talk of production in Woburn, sources reveal that the Commerce Way outpost is merely a storage station rather than a film set.

According to an October 13 press release, Knight and Day will also film in less local locales, including Austria, Spain, and the tropics. The Twentieth Century Fox/ New Regency co-production is scheduled to hit theaters on July 2, 2010.
