It’s summertime summertime sum sum summer-FILM-time! What a fabulous twenty-twelve film season it’s been! The shooting just keeps rolling on in Hollywood East with all this Heat and Labor Day.
Grown Ups 2 is wrapping up this week, in the insanely awesome dome set, and The Way Way Back called it a wrap early last week. Thank you New England boys, Adam Sandler, and Steve Carell! You make our digs bright.
Sure, we crush on cool stars like Kevin James and Sandra Bullock. We are in love with movies made in Massachusetts, but when we get to have a fling on set. Score! Casting notices galore. The LA based Sande Alessi Casting has had us floating in Columbia Pictures extra work this month, even work tomorrow. Boston Casting and C.P keep us smitten all year long.
Have you been on set? Do you want to? Here’s your chance with a “Club Goer” notice from C.P looking for EXTRAS EXTRAS early next week for The Heat. It’s a two day commitment and they are seeking attractive, dynamic and fun EXTRAS! Check out C.P for all the deets. Also read about the latest posting: An On-Camera acting course at BU. It’s FREE!
In a biz, where we always need to watch what we eat. It was nice to digest the latest bon appetit article with The Way Way Back, Marshvegas boy Steve Carrell who had Dorchester Mark Wahlberg’s back! Questioned about what his last meal on Earth would be. Carell said, “A cheeseburger, fries, and a shake from Wahlburgers, which is owned by Mark Wahlberg and his brothers Donnie and Paul. That burger holds up against all others.” Now that’s two Boston boys sticking together!
As we hang out in the Way Way Back. Let’s continue to support each other too in the roles we all play in the Hollywood East film community of brilliance! Hollywood surrounds us big and small, but what matters most is that we all meet in-between with the passion to be here. Go New England Film and Television.
‘As we move on to another day, to a whole new town with a whole new’, Way Way Back makes a movie in Marshvegas today! Carell crew has been water-logged in Wareham, pretentious crossing the Powder Point Bridge and has finally arrived to my hometown with a Hollywood cast, we can’t complain.
Green Harbor has views like no other “Sea-Porch”. Yes, I’m slanted but Marshfield is straight and ready for its close up. That’s clearly why Carell couldn’t take this project to another coast.
Ding dong, crew has been seeking out places to shack up in the area for the last month. That’s right. No phone calls just classic cold reads of knocking on the communities doors.
One neighbor told HEC, she was offered $1500 for the month! We laughed. It’s Summertime ! Another told us he was approached about using his land to park some wheels. Go Vegas. It’s official! Hollywood Marshvegas is rolling.
We know the ‘Heat’ waves the Bay State, but bus crash to gang clash in one week?! Bullock can’t be wearing any potion for the reality of this scene over in Dudley Square. The triple stabbing, left one dead, eyeshot from Hollywood shooting their own crime scene. This is a bizarre coincidence! The show must go on. Ehhh?
Let’s swallow up this feed with the NACHO! Nacho recently layered HEC and all his Nachettes with the news of “Nacho Extreme”. That is gronking out some reality television flair here in Boston. We know it’s eating up his extremities but he is eating it up. He has dipped us with some new news!
This Monday, July 16th around 2 pm, McGreevy’s Pub will be shipping it up with Nacho and sailing a deal with the lips of Beantown by naming a drink for NACHO!
The Pub fueled some fire into Nach-X-treme and just can’t burn him out. A few mixed and mangled beverages will be blended up for the NACHO-hop this Monday. HEC will be in the Pub.
Green light this on cubes. Patron Blanco, Grand Marnier, a Corona and Nacho sweet and sour. Topped with a splash of Tabasco, a squeezed lime and a glass rimmed with a sugary Nachette. We tweet Enrique Cervez ‘ ITA!
Tell us your Nacho infused drink on Facebook?
It’s hot in the city. And casting cools us down on sets with Sandra Bullock, Adam Sandler, and especially Steve Carell. We are always up for more action this summer. So let’s catch up on the day with an early morning crash.
Just like a scene out of Speed, an MBTA bus blindsided one of Bullock’s production trucks in Dudley Square. 11 injuries were reported but none life threatening. A crew member was inside the parked trailer when the bus stuck. He was taken to hospital as well.
The Bullock crew has been filming in the Square all week. As we know the show must go on! This flick is about a local Boston cop played by Melissa McCarthy, who teams up with an FBI agent rolled by Bullock to bust a Russian mobster. Billy Dowd Casting has been handcuffing extras.
Casting notices galore this month with Sande Alessi Casting. Who are looking for all kinds of extras for the Adam Sandler flick Grown Ups 2! Last notice was looking for Andy Samberg photo double shooting this Tuesday, July 10th in Tyngsborough, MA. Hook up with Sande Alessi on FB to get these newsfeed opportunities.
Time to go Way, Way Back to Water Wizz in Wareham where the scene has been splashing for the last couple of weeks. This is the second time Hollywood hot shots have been spotted diving into the water park. Water Wizz is open and sliding for the public too. Might be a good time to jump in, with Hollywood Carell, Maya Rudolf and Toni Collette. Cast will be sailing to Marshvegas soon enough.
Lights, Camera, Action. Go Hollywood East! Mist us with more East Coast flicks.

On Sunday night, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association’s 67th Golden Globes aired on the tumultuous NBC network featuring stars of both television and film. Though the unusual amount of rain meant the usually glittery red carpet arrivals were somewhat subdued by oversized umbrella accessories, the downpours did little to dampen the festivities indoors. Hollywood East well-represented in the winners’ circle, as stars originally hailing from the area, or simply connected to it through recent projects, took home awards left and right.
On the television side, the inventive Fox musical series “Glee” picked up a Globe on its very first nomination for Best Television Series–Comedy or Musical. The series is helmed by Newton, Massachusetts bred creator, Brad Falchuk.

If you’re not a fan of romantic comedies, The Proposal is close enough to a full-blown funny movie to overlook its love story overlay. Sure it has the obligatory non-realistic love story component of a romantic comedy, but the common central ideas and sarcastic humor almost balance it out.
Starring Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds, playing Margaret Tate and Andrew Paxton, the movie deals with a new theme of deportation, with the usual draw of finding love in unexpected places (i.e. in a seemingly sadistic and incredibly demanding boss). Bullock plays a driven executive editor-in-chief at a book publishing company who bribes her assistant, Reynolds, to marry her in order to avoid deportation to Canada. The movie throws in a plot twist that takes the pair to Paxton’s hometown of Sitka, Alaska (most of which was filmed in Massachusetts) where Tate meets his eccentric yet lovable family as well as some memorable and endearing reoccurring characters. After a tumultuous first couple of days that featured Tate offering the new family puppy to an eagle in exchange for a cell phone and a gratuitous nearly nude shot of both Bullock and Reynolds, Tate’s rigid outer layer shatters to expose her inner vulnerability. In addition to Bullock and Reynolds, the movie features Mary Steenburgen, Craig T. Nelson, Betty White, Malin Akerman and Oscar Nunez and is directed by Anne Fletcher.
With its release date on June 19th, it was the number one movie in the weekend box office, grossing over $33.6 million in the first three days that it was out. The movie also hit number one spots in Australia and Russia grossing over $10 million in 10 foreign markets. This was the first movie for Bullock in the past 10 years to earn a number one spot. She last saw the top spot in 1999 with her movie, Forces of Nature where she starred opposite Ben Affleck.
