Haverhill, MA native and current Woodbury, CT resident Rob Zombie, aka Robert Cummings is in the process of developing his next feature film, and he wants to center it around Salem, MA. The Lords of Salem, a story about a 300-year-old coven of witches that returns to terrorize modern-day Salem, has yet to be written, but Zombie and his crew are already buzzing about the project. No word as to whether or not the film would actually be filmed here.
Last year, Zombie released his remake of Halloween, and he also recently signed on to write, direct, and produce a remake of the 1958 horror classic The Blob. The $30 million project will be an R-rated version.
In addition to his film work, Zombie has had his fingers in a number of other projects. Universal Studios Hollywood’s Halloween Horror Nights recently opened the walk-through maze “Rob Zombie’s House of 1000 Corpses: In 3D ZombieVision.” Based on Zombie’s 2003 cult movie of the same name; four teenagers trek through the Texas backwoods in search of an urban legend, only to become prisoners of a family of serial killers. Upon entering the maze on foot, guests of Universal Studios’ largest haunted attraction to date don 3D glasses for a topsy-turvy, in-your-face encounter with the killers.
