Tom Brady Builds a Castle

Tom Brady Builds a Castle

Posted on 31 Jan 2013 at 11:53pm

He might not be playing in the game on Sunday, but it’s hard to imagine that Tom Brady has spent too much time feeling sorry for himself of late. The reason being, besides the fact that he’s married to one of the highest paid and widely considered to be one of the most beautiful supermodels currently on the planet, who he also recently welcomed his second child with, and that he already has three Super Bowl rings in his personal collection, but the Patriots quarterback recently completed construction on a 22,000 square foot mansion in Los Angeles, complete with a California-sized swimming pool, custom playscape for the children, and yes, a moat that encircles the entire building.

The would-be castle took over three years to build, and has been designed to suit the power-couple’s exact specifications. No word yet on why exactly the couple requested a moat, but they did make sure to put a bridge in in order for guests and visitors to be able to reach the front door without a boat. The Detroit Free Press reported on the architectural masterpiece earlier this week.

So, it seems that America’s cutest quarterback might have designs on building a fashioning a more literal dynasty than his trio of Superbowl crowns. Now he’s got his catwalk queen and a castle for them to rule from!

Brady Adds to the Bunch

Brady Adds to the Bunch

Posted on 12 Dec 2012 at 1:02am

Boston’s most beautiful couple, Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen, proclaimed the birth of the their second child last week, a daughter, named Vivian Lake. That’s right, on December 5, the couple’s second child (and Tom Brady’s third–he has a son with ex Bridget Moynahan) came into the world by making a splash right in the bathtub of the couple’s Boston home. Bundchen opted to once again have a home-birth, after successfully giving birth to son Benjamin in December of 2009 in the same way.

Bundchen announced the birth via her Facebook page, along with a photo of mom holding the wee one’s hand, saying:

“We feel so lucky to have been able to experience the miracle of birth once again and are forever grateful for the opportunity to be the parents of another little angel. Vivian Lake was born at home on December 5. She is healthy and full of life.”

Brady, 35, and Bundchen, 32, met in December, 2006, after both ending high profile relationships; Brady with Moynahan and Bundchen with Leonardo DiCaprio. They married in February of 2009. Last year, the super duo was named the world’s highest paid celebrity couple. For the sixth consecutive year, Bundchen was named the top earner of Forbes’ annual list of highest-paid models of 2012.

Brady has been quarterback for the Patriots since he was drafted to the NFL in 2000. In 2010, Brady signed a four-year, $72 million contract extension.

Mario Testino Helps Bring Fashion and Famous Faces to Boston

Mario Testino Helps Bring Fashion and Famous Faces to Boston

Boston is not known for being the most fashionable city—as a matter of fact, a now infamous story published by GQ magazine last year cited Boston as the “worst dressed” city in the country. Last week, however, we took a serious step forward in raising our fashion quotient when famed fashion photographer Mario Testino‘s first-ever stateside museum show opened at the Museum of Fine Arts.

The affair brought such high-fashion royalty as Vogue editor in chief Anna Wintour, and models like Karlie Kloss, Candace Swanpoel, Alessandra Ambrosio, Constance Jablonski, Joan Smalls, Sigrid Agren, and Gisele Bundchen, who is the only one of the bunch that has probably visited the MFA before, as the wife of Tom Brady is often spotted on the streets of Beantown throughout the year.

Testino’s work has graced the pages of esteemed fashion publications like Vanity Fair and Vogue.
The exhibit is called “In Your Face,” and features iconic images of models and celebrities that seem both staged and candid at times, but always glamorous. Tom Brady, Oprah, Mariah Carey, Orlando Blume and his supposed muse, Kate Moss, are all featured throughout the show in full color prints. At the same time, another exhibit, called “British Royal Portraits,” focuses on his photographs of the royal family from the 1970s until today.

The exhibit will remain on display at the museum until until Feb. 3, 2013.

Matt Damon Lends His Support

The Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Care Center’s gala at the Westin Waterfront hotel was held last night, and special guest Matt Damon was on hand to helm the festivities. Though the event featured a bevy of important people raising money for the Track at The One Hundred charity, Damon made a point of bringing up the fact that he was missing the Celtics game at the TD Garden.

Damon reportedly wore a Celtics jersey on the plane ride from New York City, and acknowledged his desire to get updates on the score for game 6 of the eastern conference NBA finals game between the Celtics and the Miami Heat, throughout the evening. The game was being played at the same time as the gala, not all that far from the hotel.

The gala is the ifth annual fundraiser honoring individuals and groups “whose diligence and discoveries, philanthropy and passion have helped advance the fight against cancer.”

Other attendees included actor Chris Cooper and Teresa Heinz and Senator John Kerry. Damon’s father, Kent, who was also in attendance, was treated by Mass General doctors in 2009 for multiple myeloma.

Damon just finished a project with Newton native John Krasinski called Promised Land. The film follows the story of a natural gas salesman who experiences life-changing events after moving to the small town location of his company’s next business endeavor.

Damon also expressed his fondness for the recently released Funny or Die video starring Patriots quarterback Tom Brady. In it, a clueless Dick’s Sporting Goods customer mistakes the Brady for the actor Cambridge bred Oscar winner.

Touchdown for Gisele

Touchdown for Gisele

Hubby Tom Brady and his New England Patriots may have only earned the number two spot in the NFL this year, but supermodel Gisele Bundchen won the Super Bowl in Time magazine’s list of the most influential models of all time. The catagory, in ‘All-TIME 100 Fashion Icons‘, also included Cindy Crawford, Heidi Klum and Twiggy.

Bundchen, discovered in San Paulo, Brazil when she was 14, has been the highest paid model in the world since 2004. Last year, Forbes magazine estimated that her total earnings have passed the $550 million mark. She is credited with ending the “heroin-chic” era of modeling (Kate Moss, Gia Carangi) and was one of the best known of Victoria’s Secret angels.

After a highly publicized five year relationship with actor Leonardo DiCaprio, Bundchen began dating quarterback Brady. They married in April 2009 and welcomed son Benjamin Rein in December of the same year. She has had a love/hate relationship with Pats fans, many attributing Brady’s failure at winning another Super Bowl to the “Gisele jinx”. She has also been blamed for what many fans feel is Tom’s lack of football fashion sense – from his endorsement of UGG boots to his Justin Bieber hairstyle of last season.

Superbowl to Supermodels and Everything East In-Between

Superbowl to Supermodels and Everything East In-Between

Posted on 07 Feb 2012 at 10:00am

At the end of the day, someone goes to Disneyland and the other goes home. Unfortunately, New England came home, again. So as our post Superbowl buzz lingers, let’s talk Supermodel and everything in-between.

Following the bowl, Mrs. Brady reacted like most New England fans after the game. Upset, disappointed and in disbelief. While Gisele waited for an elevator to go console her husband, she was heckled by a fan.  And let’s just say, Mrs. Brady had her husband’s back. It went something like this, ‘Eli owns your husband!’. ‘My husband can’t throw the ball and catch the ball at the same time’, Mrs. Brady  went on to say, ‘I can’t believe they dropped the ball so many times’. We can’t agree with you more.

The Patriots just ran out of that pre-Superbowl luck. New England was beaten by the better team, the NY Giants. Like all defeats, time will heal. We’re a city of epic champions.

Let’s rewind to halftime. Madonna bringing back the running man?! I’m in. You either loved or hated it, mixed reviews conclude. I thought Madonna was looking fresh faced, classy and it impressed me. Besides the wardrobe finger malfunction the show ran seeming less. Go Madonna.

Coin toss time. Who else was there? Were you? Who didn’t spot Marshfield native Steven Tyler who looked cozy in his NE fan box. New Hampshire comedian, Adam Sandler spotted and New Kids on the Block, Donnie Wahlberg were hanging tough. The oil stadium was certainly fueled with beautiful faces.

Will Ferrell also made a Super Bowl celeb appearance, in a commercial that is! Ferrell like countless celebs can add a superbowl square to their resume.  Unless you live in Nebraska, most likely you didn’t see this commercial. While the majority of New England fans sipped on BL’s, Ferrell cracked an Old Milwaukee beer. He sold it kind of like the Dos Equis man does.

More commercials? Yes please. Polar bears were buzzed on Coke, M & M’s got chocolatey, John Stamos speechless eating Dannon yogurt, Go Daddy finally making sense, while “The Dog Diet Volks” had me laughing out loud. And M & M’s feature the “birthday suit” edition. Awesome.

We’ll end it with this, New England. ‘Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what your going to get’. We definitely didn’t want Sunday night, but that’s life. The better team won. Congrats to the New York Giants. Rivalry, to be continued.

Tom and Gisele have a new home for the holidays

Tom and Gisele have a new home for the holidays

Huge is an understatement when it comes to describing Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen’s 22,000-square-foot mansion in Brentwood, California.  The custom designed estate, which began construction last year, is nearly complete.  The eight-bedroom home will feature a lagoon-style pool for swimsuit model Bundchen and weight room for Patriot’s QB Brady.  Hollywood’s highest earning couple will share the home with their two-year-old son, Benjamin.

The home, prepared by famed architect, Bing Hu, cost a reported $20 million, not including the $11.75 million the couple initially paid for the 3.6 acre plot.  With Bundchen recently announcing she has be pegged as the face for two 2012 luxury lines, Givenchy and Ferragamo, the couple certainly has some extra dough to splurge on the new home.

Bundchen, a Goodwill Ambassador to the United Nations Environmental Program, has reportedly ensured the home is extremely eco-friendly.  Certain green features to the home include energy-saving lighting, energy-efficient appliances, sustainable building materials and rainwater recovery systems.  Through her work with the UN, Bundchen has helped launch safe-water initiatives.

The Brady bunch made news in Boston recently when they put their 10.5 million dollar Back Bay penthouse up for sale. It’s still available, and all interested parties can check out pictures on the Sotheby’s real estate site.

Tom Brady Gets A New Haircut

Tom Brady Gets A New Haircut

Posted on 02 Oct 2011 at 11:47am

We know the news have been all over the Internet, but how could we not comment on New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady’s new do here at Hollywood East Connection?  He’s been the subject of so many of our recent stories, from he and Gisele being the world’s highest earning celebrity couple to the news about Brady being the new Uggs for men spokesman.

The last time a haircut garnered such attention was when Justin Bieber shed his infamous coif! Number 12 created quite a stir of his own at a press conference on Wednesday when he debuted a new short do – hidden underneath a cap – but it was clear that Tom’s long locks were gone. According to the Boston Globe, Tom’s long-time hairstylist Pini Swissa cut the long tendrils off last Monday.

Maybe Brady took the Pert Plus Facebook poll about his hair to heart, where 63% of fans voted that they liked a shorter do on him, or maybe it was to clean the slate after his upsetting performance against the Buffalo Bills last week. Personally, we like Tom with a shorter do and wish him luck against the Los Angeles Raiders today. *Update 8pm EST: The Pats beat the Raiders 31-19!

Boston Athletes Become Celebrities

Boston Athletes Become Celebrities

Posted on 08 Sep 2011 at 8:00am

It’s no secret that Bostonians are crazy about their sports. With the tremendous amount of attention our baseball, basketball, football, and hockey teams have garnered in the the past decade, its no wonder that our top athletes quickly become on par with major celebrities when it comes to name recognition, creating headlines, and developing a fan base. In an age where the average person can become a known around the country through the plethora of reality shows we’re bombarded with, the crossover potential for a talented athlete to have success in movies or TV is a formula that many seem to be enjoying lately.

Celtics star shooting guard Ray Allen began his college career at the University of Connecticut, departing after his junior year to pursue a career in the NBA. Before joining the Celtics in 2007, the All-star starred in a number of films, including Spike Lee’s He Got Game, and Harvard Man.

During his brief stint as a Celtic, Shaquille O’Neal continued to host his popular TV series, “Shaq vs.” The larger than life athlete with the personality to match has been prolific in terms of his TV and movie appearances throughout his career, and just recently wrapped a film entitled Jack and Jill, costarring Katie Holmes and Adam Sandler.

John Cena, who was born in West Newbury, MA, got his start as a professional wrestler,  began venturing into new territory with a part in the drama by WWE Films called Brother’s Keeper in 2009. He’s gone on to have roles in a variety of movie and TV projects, including The Reunion, which is due out this year.

Patriot’s quarterback Tom Brady, though admittedly possessing the good looks required of most television and film actors, has thus far stayed away from any major roles in either of those arenas, save for a cameo in Stuck on You, costarring Massachusetts native Matt Damon in 2003, and a very successful hosting gig on “Saturday Night Live” in 2005.

Recent addition to the Patriots, Chad Ochocinco, has had his own experiences in the television spotlight, with appearances on shows like “Cubed,” “The Mo ‘Nique Show,” “X-Play,” “The League,” and “Dancing with the Stars.”
